Kitchen cabinet makers, appliance makers, and countertops makers all have their products on display at Home and Garden shows which tour major cities. Spending a day or a weekend and one of these shows will provide you with ideas on the latest kitchen products and design ideas in the market place. You can come home from a home and garden show with brochures and samples enough to give you all the ideas you need to design you kitchen.
Getting ideas on remodeling your kitchen are all around you. Take the time to gather as many ideas as you can as a starting point in remodeling your kitchen, you can always sort out the kitchen ideas that don't fit in your final design plan.
Now that you've chosen your design, you need to choose your appliances! A grill or smoker is a necessity. You'll need to decide if you want a gas or charcoal grill, and what type fits best in your budget. Grills can range from very affordable to very expensive. Other kitchen ideas include sinks, refrigerators, extra burners and more. Some people opt to put in a refrigerator beneath their prep area. Adding extra gas burners can help you prepare a well-rounded meal. Whether or not you need burners depends on how much you anticipate using your outdoor kitchen.
There are several options when planning your outdoor kitchen. The most common design styles include the basic island, a \"U\" shaped island and an \"L\" shaped island. What you put into your kitchen island is up to you. Some outdoor kitchen ideas for the basic island would be to include a grill, a sink and a little work space. This is adequate for occasional light cooking. A \"U\" shaped island may have room for a grill, a sink, some storage and some work space. Because of the compact shape, it would fit in a small yard and allow you to visit with guests while you are cooking. \"L\" shaped islands tend to be larger, giving you a lot more room for food preparation. A grill could be located on the short side of the \"L\" while the longer side may contain a sink, a refrigerator, storage and other accessories.
Just remember there are a lot of sources out there where you can get your ideas from and don't be afraid to throw in a few ideas of your own. After all, you want your kitchen to be functional, unique and a fun place to do all your outdoor cooking.
Believe it or not the best place to start is with you and your family. Make a list of those things that you feel you will most need in your outdoor kitchen and then list those things that you think will be beneficial. For example, most families agree a good grill is a must at backyard, but do also want to make breads, pies and pizza out of doors? If so then you are going to want a wood burning oven as well. You might even want to include an open fire pit for guests to gather around, a dining set and of course cabinets and counter tops.
